In the build up to September 20’s Global Climate Strike, the Seattle Times joined over 250 newsrooms in the Covering Climate Now project. While the Times has covered environmental issues in the Pacific Northwest for decades, this series takes a more in-depth look at the affects of climate change in our region.
Here’s what they’ve covered so far:
- How climate change will impact outdoor recreation.
- How changing Bering Sea ice conditions are affecting the PNW fishing industry.
- Ideas for sustainable aviation.
- Jamie Margolin, 17-year-old climate activist.
It looks like the series will continue until September 23’s United nations Climate Action Summit in New York. It’s good to see climate reporting breaking into the mainstream, and we hope the Seattle Times will continue to cover climate change on a regular basis.
