Laundry detergent — and the residue it leaves on our clothes, towels and sheets — is something that impacts our daily lives. I gave Lumehra natural laundry detergent a spin to see if it could make my daily life cleaner and more sustainable.

I’ve long been on a journey toward clean, eco-friendly living and it has been a challenging ordeal. Still, I feel quite accomplished somehow to have started this journey in the first place. I started this when I realized how important it is to live sustainably and make eco-conscious decisions for keeping our family, self, and environment healthy.

Why Try Lumehra Natural Laundry Detergent?

If you are someone like me who is working to live sustainably and make your home healthy, then one thing you must closely consider are the laundry products you buy to keep your clothes clean.

Did you know that most of the laundry cleaning products in the market are filled with chemicals that can affect your health? This includes relatively minor diseases—like skin irritation and allergies—to the severe ones like cancer, poisoning, and neurological problems?

They leave a chemical residue on your clothes, which is absorbed by your skin and inhaled into your lungs. And if you are facing sleep problems, that might be due to the toxins from your laundry detergent affecting the way you sleep from breathing in the fragrances on your clothes and sheets.

Other than that, they are bad for the environment as the chemical compounds found in chemical detergents when washed away usually end up in our waterways where they harm aquatic life. Besides, many of them come in non-recyclable and plastic detergent containers, which means adding more waste to landfills and polluting the air. This all calls attention to saying no to chemical laundry products forever and choosing detergents that are safe for your health and environment.

Fortunately, there are environmentally friendly detergents available to help minimize the impact of conventional ones. Chemical laundry detergents are never a good laundry cleaning solution, as they come with ingredients we now know can seriously harm your health, and the environment. When shopping around, you should only be looking into the aisle carrying all natural detergents. Remember to always read the labels on the package to know the right ingredients to buy.

Chemicals to avoid

There are some ingredients you need to make sure are not present in your laundry detergents that include:

  • Artificial fragrances
  • Surfactants
  • Stabilizers
  • Bleach
  • Brighteners
  • 1-4 dioxane
  • Phosphates
  • EDTA

Next check the detergent container. It should be recyclable, which means natural resources can be conserved and less waste is sent to landfills. The change is necessary, remember small changes have a big impact. After all this, you will surely feel good as I did about your purchasing decisions that support the well-being of the environment by keeping yours and that of your household’s carbon footprint to a minimum level.

Bottom Line

I never thought of it before that powdered detergents are great for saving water, but now I feel great thinking of it and using an eco-friendly powdered version with this brand.

They have two variants; one is Natural Fresh Lavender laundry detergent which is infused with lavender essential oil leaving a mild scent while still removing stubborn stains. This lavender laundry detergent smells amazing and I have experienced a soothing effect when I wear my clothes after washing them with it.

I also got the other one as I love anything that is natural and has essential oils. Their Natural Tea Tree Oil laundry detergent is made with organic tea tree oil that also has been great in removing stains just the same and it leaves a mild scent on your clothes which is again not too overpowering and your clothes smell fresh. This is another great thing about these detergents that they are free of artificial fragrances. Further, it rinses clean, all the way down to the fiber that means no itchy, icky residue only clean, soft, fresh-smelling clothes.

For me, it has been a great choice that is both safe to use and eco-friendly in nature. Try it for yourself and I’m sure you’ll love it just the same as me and my family did.
